Routine testing for blood type isn't medically necessary but a lot of people like to know their blood type.
There are 4 major blood groups: Group A, Group B, Group AB and Group O. This is called the ‘ABO blood group system'.
For each of the 4 blood groups you can be what's called ‘positive' (+) or ‘negative' (-). The positive/negative refers to the ‘Rh factor'.
This makes 8 possible combinations in total.
You inherit your blood type based on the combination of your parents' blood type, but you can't prove or disprove who someone's mother or father is based only on blood types or this test. Please don't use this test for that purpose.
